Freescale Kinetis "Make It Challenge" contestants can add Wi-Fi connectivity to their design/ prototype to control or monitor it using a smartphone or to connect it to internet. The TWR-WIFI-G1011MI: Tower System Wi-Fi Module is a development board with a fully certified on-board GS1011MIP Wi-Fi module from GainSpan featuring a highly integrated and low power SOC that consumes few µA of standby current and has a few ms of wake-up latency from standby, for battery operated devices requiring long battery life. It includes both UART and SPI interfaces, a full Wi-Fi stack including WPS for easy provisioning, an embedded web server, and capability to operate as a limited access point. It interoperates with standard 802.11 b/g/n access points at speeds up to 11Mbps.
