The TWR-WIFI-GS1500M 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi module enables leading edge Wi-Fi connectivity for the development of connected devices. This peripheral module for the Tower System features a fully certified Wi-Fi module from GainSpan (GS1500M) on-board and provides several modes of connectivity: Client to connect the device to the internet; limited access point to connect the device to smartphone or Wi-Fi direct for peer-to-peer networking without an access point, enabling easy transfer of content anytime, anywhere.

The solution offers web and smartphone based module provisioning and reliable over the air firmware for the Wi-Fi module to enable upgrade to the latest features and solution improvements.

This peripheral module is designed to be combined and used with other MCU and peripheral modules in the Tower System, including the TWR-K60D100M.

GainSpan GS1500M Wi-Fi module:

  • Operates with standard 802.11 b/g/n access points at speeds up to 72 Mb/s
  • Supports infrastructure client, limited AP, ad hoc or Wi-Fi direct modes
  • UART and SPI interfaces for communication with MCU
  • Complete Wi-Fi stack including WPS and 802.11i security: WEP, WPA, WPA2-PSK, personal and enterprise
  • Complete optional networking stack and services including TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP(s) client/server software, mDNS/DNS-SD-based Discovery
  • Device provisioning and over-the-air firmware upgrade
  • Over-the-air firmware download
  • Certified GainSpan Wi-Fi module: FCC, IC, ETSI, RoHS, Wi-Fi Alliance (802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and WPS2.0)
