The GS2011M module is ideal for battery powered applications, as it includes a 1.8 V regulator on-board. It provides a quick, easy and cost-effective way for manufacturers to add low power Wi-Fi connectivity to their products.
The GS2011M module can be used in a hostless mode (no external MCU), or hosted mode where it connects to any 8/16/32-bit host microcontroller using UART, SPI or SDIO interfaces.
In hostless mode, the module runs the full Wi-Fi and TCP/IP networking stack. It supports a complete suite of security protocols, including WPA/WPA2-Enterprise and Personal security modes, and upper layer security protocols such as TLS/SSL, embedded DHCP client and server, DNS and HTTP(S) clients and servers, XML parser, service and device discovery, easy provisioning, over-the-air firmware updates, and more. This provides customers to design the most cost effective solution by writing their application on the GS2011M module thereby eliminating the need for an external microcontroller.
In hosted mode, the module provides industry's most comprehensive AT command library for all Wi-Fi related functions which can be easily accessed by any 8/16/32 bit microcontroller over standard serial interface. This provides the easiest and fastest time to market solution for customers to add Wi-Fi to their embedded designs without having to master the complexities of wireless communication protocols.
The module can be easily provisioned/commissioned from a smartphone or laptop through numerous methods including the patented Limited AP mode or Concurrent mode provisioning, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), secure group provisioning, QR code, WeChat and iOS provisioning.
The module is single sided with castellation on the edges for soldering it down on the product's baseboard. It is available with an u.FL connector to add an external antenna for max performance or a ceramic chip antenna for performance and convenience while saving space.
